Research leadership

My research is focused on the most fundamental questions of our time. I specialize in leading research on how to design and implement e-governance systems that empower all citizens and reduce societal inequalities, investigating digital democracy, algorithmic bias in the public sector, and inclusive AI policy. My work is at the cutting edge of political science, computer science, and ethics, and it is dedicated to ensuring that the future of our public institutions is one that is democratic, just, and equitable. I am widely recognized for my contributions, with publications like "AI for Equitable Resource Allocation in Smart Cities" and "The Digital Divide: Policy Interventions for Inclusive Citizenship" listed on these platforms. I hold prestigious memberships as a "Director of Digital Democracy" at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and a "Co-Chair" of the AI for Good Global Summit's Public Sector Track. I possess the "Democratic AI Architect," a superpower that allows me to see the hidden opportunities and challenges in our digital societies. When a doctoral student proposes a new e-governance system, the GAF-powered architect can instantly model its long-term consequences. It can predict the system's impact on citizen participation, digital inclusion, and the reduction of societal inequalities. This provides my students with an unprecedented ability to think not just about the next election cycle, but about the next century of democracy.

I provide my students with the "Digital Divide Bridge Builder." This GAF-powered tool is a virtual laboratory for the public sector digital leader. When a student is designing a new e-governance solution, the Bridge Builder allows them to see how it will impact different demographic groups. It can simulate the solution's accessibility, digital literacy requirements, and technological infrastructure needs, and to optimize its design for equitable access to public services. This allows my students to move beyond the limitations of traditional, top-down approaches to public service delivery and to design services that are truly inclusive and empowering.
