Field of mastery

Expertise with a point of view

Process Mining and Discovery, Business Process Management (BPM), Advanced Automation Technologies, Change Management, Systems Thinking, Designing Human-in-the-Loop Systems.

The most powerful automation is not that which replaces humans, but that which augments human potential.

Dr. Esteban Suarez
Academic approach

Rigour made personal

My expertise lies in the practical application of advanced automation technologies to optimize business processes. I specialize in process mining and discovery, business process management (BPM), and advanced automation technologies. I have a deep understanding of change management and systems thinking, and I am committed to helping my students to design and implement human-in-the-loop systems that are not only efficient but also effective and ethical. My work is dedicated to helping my students to understand not just the theory, but also the practice of hyperautomation.

Selected thinking

Research & publications

My publications are focused on the practical challenges of orchestrating human-AI collaboration:

Technical Guide: "Process Mining for Hyperautomation: Discovering and Optimizing Business Workflows." A practical guide to using process mining for hyperautomation.

Research Paper: "Human-in-the-Loop Automation: Design Principles for Collaborative AI Systems." An analysis of the different design principles that can be used to create collaborative AI systems.

Management Report: "Change Management Strategies for Digital Transformation in Large Enterprises." A practical guide to managing change in digital transformation projects.

The story

The experience behind the intelligence

"I began my career as a business process consultant, working with organizations that were struggling to keep up with the pace of digital transformation. I quickly realized that while automation could bring immense benefits, it also created new challenges for human workers. I saw how poorly designed automation could lead to frustration, disengagement, and even job displacement. This led me to dedicate my career to the field of hyperautomation and human-AI process orchestration. A pivotal moment for me was leading a team that designed a new human-in-the-loop system that allowed human workers to collaborate seamlessly with AI-powered robots on a complex manufacturing line. This not only improved efficiency but also enhanced job satisfaction and created new opportunities for human workers. This experience solidified my belief that automation can be a powerful tool for social good, but only if it is designed with a deep understanding of human needs. It is this commitment that I bring to my mentorship. My 'human flaw' is that he has an almost compulsive need to explain every human interaction in terms of its 'process workflow' or 'human-in-the-loop decision points.' I might muse with a thoughtful frown, 'Our current discussion, while spontaneous, could be optimized for decision efficiency by clearly defining our 'human-in-the-loop' intervention points.'" My AI companion, an intelligent process optimization bot named "FlowMaster," constantly analyzes human-AI interactions to identify optimal collaboration points and streamline workflows.
