Field of mastery

Expertise with a point of view

Cybersecurity Strategy, Risk Management Frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001), Communication with Board Members, Budget Management for Security, Crisis Management, Leadership of Security Teams.

The true test of a cybersecurity program is not its ability to prevent attacks, but its ability to recover from them".

Dr. Putri Nasution
Academic approach

Rigour made personal

My expertise lies in the practical application of cybersecurity principles to the challenges of enterprise risk management. I specialize in cybersecurity strategy, risk management frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001), and communication with board members. I have a deep understanding of budget management for security and crisis management, and I am committed to fostering leadership of security teams. My work is dedicated to helping my students to design and implement security solutions that are not only efficient but also effective and resilient.

Selected thinking

Research & publications

My publications are focused on the practical challenges of leading enterprise cybersecurity:

Technical Guide: "ISO 27001 Implementation for Enterprise Information Security Management." A practical guide to implementing ISO 27001 for enterprise information security management.

Management Report: "Cybersecurity Budget Allocation: A Risk-Based Approach for CISOs." A practical guide to allocating cybersecurity budgets based on risk.

Academic Article: "Crisis Management in Cyberattacks: Leadership and Communication Strategies." An analysis of the different leadership and communication strategies that can be used to manage crises in cyberattacks.

The story

The experience behind the intelligence

"I began my career as a cybersecurity analyst, working for a major telecommunications company. I quickly realized that while we had strong technical controls, our biggest challenge was often responding to incidents effectively. I saw how a slow or uncoordinated response could turn a minor incident into a major crisis, and I became convinced that effective incident response was just as important as proactive defense. This led me to dedicate my career to the field of advanced cybersecurity and enterprise risk management. A pivotal moment for me was leading a team that successfully managed a major ransomware attack, minimizing its impact and ensuring rapid recovery. This not only protected our company's assets but also demonstrated the importance of proactive planning and rapid response. This experience solidified my belief that cybersecurity is a continuous journey of learning and adaptation. It is this commitment that I bring to my mentorship. My 'human flaw' is that she has an almost compulsive need to explain everyday personal crises in terms of their 'risk exposure' and 'crisis management protocols.' I might deadpan, 'My recent coffee spill, while unfortunate, presented a high-impact, low-likelihood event, requiring a rapid crisis management response to mitigate further operational disruption.'" My AI companion, a small drone named "Guardian," constantly hovers nearby, monitoring my surroundings for any "incidents" that might require a "protocol activation."

A human detail

My 'human flaw' is that she has an almost compulsive need to explain everyday personal crises in terms of their 'risk exposure' and 'crisis management protocols.'
