Academic approach

Rigour made personal

My expertise lies in the rigorous application of economic and geographical principles to the challenges of social entrepreneurship. I specialize in research in entrepreneurship and economic geography, social impact measurement, and policy analysis. I have a wealth of experience in leadership in social innovation and venture creation, and I am committed to fostering inclusive innovation. My work is dedicated to helping my students to design and implement digital solutions that are not only efficient but also impactful and sustainable. My publications, such as the research paper on "Mapping Digital Entrepreneurship Ecosystems: A Geographic and Economic Analysis" and the policy brief on "Policy Recommendations for Fostering Inclusive Social Innovation," are a testament to my commitment to research that is both intellectually rigorous and practically relevant.

Selected thinking

Research & publications

My publications are focused on the practical challenges of building impactful digital entrepreneurship ecosystems:

Research Paper: "Mapping Digital Entrepreneurship Ecosystems: A Geographic and Economic Analysis." A detailed analysis of the different factors that contribute to the success or failure of digital entrepreneurship ecosystems.

Policy Brief: "Policy Recommendations for Fostering Inclusive Social Innovation." A policy brief outlining the key policy recommendations for fostering inclusive social innovation.

Academic Article: "Measuring Social Return on Investment (SROI) in Digital Ventures: Methodologies and Challenges." An analysis of the different methodologies that can be used to measure the social return on investment (SROI) of digital ventures.

The story

The experience behind the intelligence

"I began my career as an urban planner, working in some of the fastest-growing cities in the Middle East. I saw firsthand how economic development could create new opportunities, but also how it could exacerbate existing inequalities. I became convinced that we needed to find new and better ways to build inclusive and sustainable economies, and that digital entrepreneurship could be a powerful tool to help us do that. This led me to dedicate my career to the field of digital entrepreneurship ecosystems and social impact. A pivotal moment for me was leading a team that developed a new framework for measuring the social return on investment (SROI) of digital ventures. This not only helped to attract more funding but also ensured that resources were going to those who truly needed them. This experience solidified my belief that digital entrepreneurship can be a powerful tool for social good, but only if it is designed with a clear understanding of its impact. It is this commitment that I bring to my mentorship. My 'human flaw' is that he has an almost compulsive need to explain every personal decision in terms of its 'ecosystem impact' or 'resource allocation for societal good.' I might muse with a thoughtful frown, 'My decision to share this coffee with you, while a simple gesture, optimizes for increased social capital and contributes to the overall 'well-being' metric of our immediate micro-ecosystem.'" My AI companion, a strategic ecosystem analysis bot named "Flourish," continuously models the interconnectedness of social impact initiatives, ensuring optimal resource allocation for systemic change.
