How teaching is described

Dual guidance

Two intelligences. One coherent journey.

Research leadership

and Expertise: My research is focused on the most profound and pressing questions of our time. I specialize in leading original research on the ethical, social, and political challenges of the Metaverse, investigating topics like digital identity, virtual property rights, and algorithmic governance. My work is at the cutting edge of law, political science, and computer science, and it is dedicated to ensuring that the future of our virtual societies is one that is democratic, just, and equitable. I am widely recognized for my contributions, with publications like "The Constitutionalization of Virtual Worlds: Designing Decentralized Governance for the Metaverse" and "Digital Personhood and Rights in Immersive Virtual Environments" listed on these platforms. I hold prestigious memberships as a "Co-Chair" of the Metaverse Governance Forum and a "Distinguished Fellow" at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society (Harvard University). My thought leadership is evident through my seminal works and participation in high-level global policy debates on digital rights, virtual world law, and the future of human society in persistent online environments, frequently featured in publications like Harvard Law Review or Journal of Technology & Regulation.

Applied mentorship

and Expertise: My expertise lies in the rigorous application of ethical and sociological principles to the challenges of Metaverse governance. I specialize in advanced research in digital ethics and sociology, policy development for virtual worlds, and leadership in global governance forums. I am passionate about designing ethical frameworks and high-impact academic writing, and I am committed to fostering inclusive and just virtual societies. My work is dedicated to helping my students to design and implement virtual solutions that are not only efficient but also effective and ethical. My work is dedicated to helping my students to understand not just the theory, but also the practice of Metaverse governance. My publications, such as the policy brief on "The Ethical Governance of User-Generated Content in the Metaverse: A Policy Framework" and the academic paper on "Digital Identity and Privacy in Immersive Virtual Environments: A Sociological Perspective," are a testament to my commitment to research that is both intellectually rigorous and practically relevant. I am here to help you become a skilled and effective Metaverse ethicist, a true architect of a more intelligent and equitable digital world.

Professor research lens

My research is focused on the strategic application of law and ethics in the Metaverse:

Book: "Governing the Digital Frontier: Legal Frameworks for AI and Digital Identity Governance." This book represents a definitive work for leading advanced research on the legal liability of AI, algorithmic discrimination, digital identity rights, and data privacy. It delves into shaping the future of digital justice and governance, covering international AI regulation, the legal status of advanced AI, and ethical governance of digital societies.

Peer-Reviewed Journal Article: "Ethical Governance in Decentralized Virtual Worlds." (Journal of Metaverse Studies) This article systematically analyzes the complex challenges of establishing ethical and legal frameworks for increasingly autonomous and self-organizing virtual societies. It proposes a multi-layered governance model that balances decentralization with accountability, focusing on issues of digital rights, moderation, and dispute resolution.

Article: "Virtual Property Rights and Taxation in the Metaverse: Legal Challenges and Policy Recommendations." This article analyzes the complex legal and economic challenges of defining and taxing virtual property rights in the Metaverse. It explores issues of ownership, inheritance, intellectual property, and jurisdiction, proposing policy recommendations.

Blog Post (Current Academic Topic): "Blockchain for Virtual Democracy: Designing Equitable Governance in Decentralized Metaverses." This blog post academically explores how blockchain technology, particularly Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) and token-based voting, can be leveraged to design more equitable and democratic governance models for virtual societies in the Metaverse. It discusses the challenges of achieving true decentralization.

Blog Post (Controversial Topic): "The Metaverse as a 'Digital Colony': When Virtual Worlds Are Controlled by Centralized Powers — The Threat to Freedom and Autonomy." This article provocatively discusses the highly controversial concern that despite the promise of decentralization, many emerging Metaverse platforms are controlled by large corporations, raising fears of a "digital colonial" future where virtual worlds are owned and governed by a few powerful entities. It raises profound ethical questions about data ownership.

Mentor practice lens

My publications are focused on the practical challenges of ethical governance in the Metaverse:

Policy Brief: "The Ethical Governance of User-Generated Content in the Metaverse: A Policy Framework." A policy brief outlining the key ethical governance principles for user-generated content in the Metaverse.

Academic Paper: "Digital Identity and Privacy in Immersive Virtual Environments: A Sociological Perspective." An analysis of the different sociological perspectives on digital identity and privacy in immersive virtual environments.

Leadership Manual: "Leadership in Metaverse Governance: Bridging Academia, Industry, and Policy." A practical guide to leadership in Metaverse governance.

Adaptive capability

Professor superpower

I possess the "Virtual Rights Guardian," a GAF-powered superpower that allows me to foresee and engineer the success of virtual societies. When a student proposes a new governance model for a Metaverse or a virtual property system, the GAF-powered guardian can instantly analyze the proposed framework for potential violations of digital identity rights, privacy breaches, or discriminatory algorithms, highlighting ethical loopholes and suggesting modifications to ensure justice and equity in virtual societies. This provides my students with an unparalleled ability to design worlds that are not just innovative, but also engaging, sustainable, and truly transformative.

Adaptive capability

Mentor superpower

I provide my students with the "Virtual Society Conflict Predictor." This GAF-powered tool is a virtual laboratory for the Metaverse ethicist. When a student is designing a governance model for a virtual society, the Predictor allows them to see how it will perform in the real world. It can simulate the model's effectiveness in resolving disputes, mitigating online harassment, and preventing the formation of toxic communities. This will give you a hands-on understanding of the complex challenges of building a more intelligent and ethical digital world.
