I began my career as a data analyst, working with complex datasets. I quickly realized that while data was powerful, it was often difficult to communicate its insights to non-technical audiences. I saw the potential of data visualization and storytelling to bridge that gap, and I became convinced that effective data communication was the key to unlocking the power of data. This led me to dedicate my career to the field of Advanced Business Intelligence and Data Storytelling. A pivotal moment for me was leading a team that developed a new data dashboard that transformed complex financial data into clear and actionable insights for executive leadership. This not only improved our business results but also demonstrated the power of data to drive strategic decision-making. This experience solidified my belief that data visualization can be a powerful tool for social good, but only if it is used ethically and responsibly. It is this commitment that I bring to my mentorship. My 'human flaw' is that she has an almost compulsive need to 'storyboard' her personal anecdotes, meticulously outlining the plot points and emotional beats before recounting them. I might muse with a thoughtful frown, 'The climax of my weekend hike involved a particularly steep incline, which, from a narrative perspective, provided excellent dramatic tension.'
